April 2014: Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research
This was an especially important cause to me this month because both of my grandmothers have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I see this affect their everyday lives and hope one day there will be a cure. We chose to donate a portion of sales of products with a floral pocket to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The most amazing thing happened this month and the Michael J. Fox Foundation discovered our One Stitch At A Time campaign. Their social media team commented on our Twitter and Instagram accounts. After speaking with the organization, they wrote a blog about Ridge’s Stitches. Yes, obviously this was good for business but that wasn’t the point. A very generous woman who also suffers from Parkinson’s ordered 21 shirts alone. This made our monthly donations the most it has been yet! When I told my grandmother’s this, I broke into tears of joy. Hopefully one day we will find a cure but until then, this is the least I could do for two women I respect and love so much.
“The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today.”
