Bunless Burger Bowl

Burger BowlHow on earth can you put a burger in a bowl? What about the bun? Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the new creation: a burger bowl! My friend, Katarina gave me this inspiration during one of our coworking sessions! This one is a perfect dish for all you gluten free goers! If you’ve been following my blog, you’re aware that I enjoy a bowl here and there. Check out my 4th of July smoothie bowl recipe or this vegan buddha bowl. This one makes a nice next-day-lunch, even cold!

Serves: 4

Hands-on time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Gluten free

1 lb. grass-fed organic ground beef

20 cherry tomatoes, diced

1 red onion, diced

2 avocados

4 cups arugula

1 cup crumbled feta or goat cheese (I like the J2K Capraio chevré from the Lincoln Park farmer’s market)

  1. Heat the grill to high.
  2. Create 4 quarter-pound burgers and throw on the grill for about 3 minutes on each side.
  3. Assemble about ½ cup of arugula at the base of each bowl.
  4. Place the grilled burger, cherry tomatoes, and avocado on the bowl. Top the burger with feta cheese crumbles.
  5. You can add a balsamic, olive oil dressing or try my red pepper dressing!
  6. Enjoy!
