Chia seeds? Like Chia Pets? You guessed it! These magical seeds used to grow those furry friends as a kid are one of the healthiest foods on the planet. They come from the plant Salvia Hispanica grown natively in South America. Ancient Aztecs and Mayans used these seeds for energy. “Chia” is even an ancient Mayan word translated to “strength.” Chia seeds can improve your exercise performance as much as a sports drink. The seeds are packed with protein and tons of antioxidants. They are usually grown organically, are non-GMO, and free of gluten! These seeds include massive amounts of fiber, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, and other micronutrients.

Ingredients

2/3 cup chia seeds

2 cups unsweetened almond milk

½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon agave or honey to sweeten


Directions

  1. Combine the ingredients in a small container with a lid.
  2. Stir thoroughly.
  3. Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Add raspberries, blueberries, pomegranate seeds, or nuts for a little extra flare.
  5. Enjoy!
