imageAs I sit down to write this blog post, a flash came over me. “Overcome.” It was the first word I thought when I awoke this morning. Overcome what? Fear? The fear of failure, change, or maybe even success. I’ve been meaning to write this blog post for months now. I ask myself why am I holding back? What do I need to overcome in this moment? It could be the fear that no one will read this post or even the fear so many people will. Either way, I sit here writing slowly overcoming my frightening thoughts.

Each day I set a one word intention. Something to live by. A word to focus my mind.

I ran into an old friend the other day. She said to me, “You do something cool with words. What is it again? A word of the year?”
Ah, yes. The beginning of it all, I thought. My friend Kat shared this practice with me back in 2015. She set a one word intention for the entire year instead of a just a basic New Year’s resolution.

My word for 2015 was “vibe.” I learned to trust my gut and focus on the energy signals I received. As 2016 came around, “love” just pulled at my heart strings.

I’ve had the privilege to see many others set their year long intentions. Whether it’s “go,” “happiness,” “fierce,” or even another “love,” I’ve watched these individuals truly embrace their intention.

Now I invite you to overcome your fears of change, success, and failure and set one word for your year. Perhaps your year will turn into a daily progression. “Move.”
