October 2013: Keep-A-Breast
The Keep-A-Breast foundation’s mission is to “eradicate breast cancer for future generations. We provide support programs for young people impacted by cancer and educate people about prevention, early detection, and cancer-causing toxins in our everyday environment.”
This cause was important not only because October it is breast cancer awareness month but also because it is important to remember to take care of our bodies. Women should be doing monthly self-breast exams and not be afraid to share fear with their friends. Even at the young age of 23, I had girlfriends who have detected a lump. Organizations such as Keep A Breast remind young girls to do a self-check and act on it if something is abnormal. We chose multiple pink pockets this month and donated a portion of our sales to Keep-A-Breast. Mend the world One Stitch at a Time.
