One Stitch at a Time

IMG_0882We hope to mend the world one stitch at a time through each sale of our “pocket of the month.” One Stitch at a Time is our effort to give back to the community. We love our work and we hope to have a positive impact on the world. It’s not just fashion but rather fashion for a cause. Each month we choose a non-profit organization and a correlating pocket. April is national Parkinson’s awareness month so in April 2014, we chose the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Both of my grandmothers have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, making this month especially important. The most amazing thing happened this month. The foundation found our posts on our social media sites and reached out to us. Eventually the foundation wrote a blog post about Ridge’s Stitches and the pocket tees. That was great publicity but the best thing that came from the post is the impact we had on others who had been impacted by Parkinson’s disease. Every time I received an email from someone who had read the post, my heart filled with joy. One woman ordered 22 shirts alone! It was our most successful donation month and I could not believe it. When I told my grandmothers the news, it brought tears to my eyes. They were so happy and I was so grateful I had an opportunity to raise awareness for this cause. We wanted to start something that mattered. Not just to me, but to others around the world. Hopefully with the launch of the new site we can donate even more next time!
