Our Mission
Our mission is to mend the world one stitch at a time by donating a portion of our pocket sales to a specific cause each month. We started this in October 2013 with Keep-A-Breast. It has been a blessing to raise awareness to situations that surround our everyday lives.
August 2014: Courte Oreilles Lakes Association (COLA)
This month’s cause will be donating products with our “Come Sail Away” pocket to the Courte Oreilles Lakes Association. I have been an avid lake girl my entire life. Each summer we go up to a cabin in Wisconsin that has been in my family for over 100 years. This lake is like a sanctuary…
July 2014: Wounded Warrior Project
A good friend of mine left for Afghanistan this year to fight for our country. He had been a close friend throughout college and I wanted to find a way to give back to him and others for fighting for everyone’s freedom back in the states. The month of of July is filled with American…
June 2014: Rewrite Beautiful
With the summer months coming up, I found it necessary to focus on the importance of inner beauty. Many times girls are pressured into looking a certain way because that is what they believe society needs them to do. It is more important to feel good than look like a photograph in a magazine many…
May 2014: Muscular Dystrophy Association
My cousin works for the Muscular Dystrophy Association down in Dallas. Muscular Dystrophy is a neuromuscualr disease that weakens the musculosketal system and limits lococomotion. This organization hopes to find a cure for MDA/ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It became well known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease when it affected the famous baseball player Lou Gehrig….
April 2014: Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research
This was an especially important cause to me this month because both of my grandmothers have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I see this affect their everyday lives and hope one day there will be a cure. We chose to donate a portion of sales of products with a floral pocket to the Michael J….
March 2014: World Wildlife Foundation
Nature and animals have always been a big part of my life. We get oxygen from the plants and give CO2 back to them. This continues in a cycle and with this reciprocal relationship, it is important to conserve the natural habitats in which animals, including ourselves, live. If a person poisoned my food, air,…
February 2014: Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition
One of my sisters volunteered at the Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition organization during the month of February. I thought it was very interesting people were being abducted and sold into human slavery so close to where I was attending college. The crazy thing was that not many people knew about it. I wanted…
January 2014: To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA)
Why is it so easy for someone to tell others “I have a cold” or “I broke my foot.” These statements about not being “well” are thrown around with no care in the world. Yet, when someone needs help with addiction or depression, it is not looked at as a sickness. There are more people…
December 2013: Toys-For-Tots
As a child, my grandmother took my cousins, sisters, and me down to the city of Chicago to donate gifts to children who were less fortunate than others. These kids were extremely grateful for the single toy they received each year as they greeted us with joy. We had a man dress up as Santa…
November 2013: Movember
A donation to Movember “will support world-class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer. These programs, directed by the Movember Foundation, are focused on awareness and education, living with and beyond cancer, and research to achieve our vision of an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.” In October, we did it…
October 2013: Keep-A-Breast
The Keep-A-Breast foundation’s mission is to “eradicate breast cancer for future generations. We provide support programs for young people impacted by cancer and educate people about prevention, early detection, and cancer-causing toxins in our everyday environment.” This cause was important not only because October it is breast cancer awareness month but also because it is…
