A Claritin a day keeps the tissues away. Or so you think. This transition into fall brings about many seasonal changes. You may be that student in yoga class who keeps a box of Kleenex next to your mat. Pollen and ragweed are here for the fall allergy season and you are probably praying for these allergies to pass. According to Everyday Health, pollen spreads more easily in windy and wet climates, making your allergies worse. Ragweed allergies are very common during the September months. Ragweed allergies can start as early as August and go until November depending where you live. By October, allergies will probably ease up, especially the further north you live in the United States. Here are three natural tips to deal with allergies:

1. Consume local honey.

Local honey is made from bees collecting nectar and pollen from local plants. This helps to keep allergies caused by pollen at bay. Find out more health benefits of honey here.

2. Add essential oils to your medicine cabinet.

My personal favorite is the Breathe essential oil blend by doTerra. It gives me an instant sense of relief when I need a little help breathing. Other essential oils that are great for combating seasonal allergies include lavender, tea tree, peppermint, eucalyptus, and rosemary to name a few.

3. Practice the breathing technique called “Nadi Shodhana.”

This is a pranayama (breathing) technique also known as alternate nostril breathing. It has a wide range of benefits, including cleaning out your nasal passage.

Try these tips out for seasonal allergies. We will be addressing food allergies and sensitivities soon so stay tuned!
