Sweet and Spicy Mixed Nuts

sweet and spicy mixed nutsI brought these nuts over to my cousin the other day and let’s just say they did not last long. I will have to say they were quite the hit. Mixed nuts are a great snack but adding in a little extra flavor here and there just spices them up, literally! This batch offers a sweet taste with a little spice that hits you right in the back of the throat a few seconds later. Try experimenting with adding different spices into your batch or even taking some out.


Serves: 2 and ¼ cup mixed nuts

Hands-on time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes


Gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, dairy free


Ingredients

1 cup almonds

¾ cup cashews

½ cup peanuts

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

¼ teaspoon chili pepper

½ teaspoon cumin

¼ teaspoon ground ginger

¼ teaspoon cloves

2 Tablespoons brown sugar

1 ½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ Tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons dried rosemary


Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375℉.
  2. Toss nuts in a large bowl then spread evenly on a baking sheet.
  3. Toast nuts for 10-12 minutes
  4. Mix spices, brown sugar, salt, rosemary, and olive oil in bowl. Add nuts once finished toasting to coat in mixture.
  5. Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container.
